As one of New York City’s premiere academic medical centers, the Columbia University Medical Center required strict adherence to air quality, material, and health and safety standards for the HVAC renovation of their new annex building. Precision-Aire fulfilled and exceeded all specifications, including the use of special air filters, insulation, and specialized pre- and post-installation duct sealing and cleaning.
As with many HVAC renovations, timing was essential. The renovated space, which consisted of new administrative offices, exam rooms, and lobbies, was previously a functional space, but had to be taken out of service during the HVAC upgrade. In addition to restricting our work to the hospital’s business hours, we worked under a compressed schedule in order to return the space back to full functionality as soon as possible. Throughout the upgrade, the lobbies, one of our main renovation areas, remained open to the public, requiring Precision to carefully control dust and noise levels to avoid disruption of employees and patients that were coming and going.
